The most widely sold gold coins in the world, the American Gold Eagle 1oz were introduced in the year 1986 a and since then, more than 13 million of these coins have been sold. Due to the high popularity of these coins, they are also highly cashable.
The coins are minted in West Point in New York in 4 sizes: 1-oz, 1/2-oz, 1/4-oz a 1/10-oz. The larger the coin, the higher the premium. The coins are 22 carrot, that means they contain 91% of gold and 8,4% composition of copper and silver. Thanks to this information, some investors erroneously believe that the coin contains less than 1oz o gold, which is not true. These coins actually contain1oz of gold, which is also on their stamps. A lower purity actually has the advantage of greater resilience against surface abrasion and wear
The American Gold Eagle is an official gold coin and legal tender in the USA. On the coin are the symbols of freedom per Augustus Saint-Gaudens' design: on the face we can see the figure of Lady Liberty with flowing hair, in her right hand she holds an olive branch and on the left is the Capitol building. On the back is a flying eagle with an olive branch, landing in a nest with a female eagle (design Miley Busiek).
