These silver coins have been minted by Perth Mint since 1990.

The coin motif, which represents the Australian bird Kookaburra (Kingfisher), is changed every year. The kingfisher motif is located on the roof at dawn, with stylized rays of light in the background and is lined with the inscription "AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA", 30th year, weight and purity.

On the reverse is a historical depiction by Stuart Devlin from 1990, kookaburry on a tree stump surrounded by leaves. It also contains a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the inscription 1990 2020 and a face value.
Each coin is stored in a protective plastic capsule.
